Your Book Planner

A&A Publishing requires — AT AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM — a four month lead time to get your book to market. Six months is more desirable for all concerned.

To plan when your book might be in bookshops use the following planner:

MONTH ZERO

  • You commission us to write a PRODUCTION PROPOSAL and a PUBLICITY and DISTRIBUTION PROPOSAL for your book. For further information about our proposals please read our General Submission Info page here (if you haven't already).
  • Full editing of manuscript

MONTH 1

  • All editing changes made
  • Review manuscripts sent out to potential reviewers
  • Requests for cover endorsements sent out
  • Notification to distributor to add your book to their schedule
  • Draft cover and internal text designs sent to you for feedback
  • Launch venue and launcher booked
  • Meeting with publicist to decide strategy

MONTH 2

  • Cover endorsements finalised
  • Design signed off
  • Files sent to printer
  • Distribution package sent to distributor for catalogue and sales team briefing

MONTH 3

  • Press release finalised
  • Author page on website designed
  • All external advertising eg Good Reading magazine finalised
  • Media training with publicist
  • Books arrive
  • Press release sent out to media list
  • Complimentary books sent out to media
  • Targeted emails sent out and interviews booked

MONTH 4

  • Book launch
  • Publicity campaign in full swing
  • Sell in to bookshops
